Green Street

The Green Street project at 718 South Hill Street is a striking example of adaptive reuse architecture in downtown Los Angeles. A historic early 1900s manufacturing building has been transformed into a vibrant, multi-functional hub tailored to the cannabis industry. This seven-story, 67,000-square-foot structure integrates its industrial past with modern design sensibilities to create a seamless blend of history and innovation.

Preserving the building’s architectural heritage, the design retains a massive dark wood spiral staircase from the original construction. This iconic element serves as a visual and experiential anchor, winding through the structure and connecting its diverse spaces. The historic fabric is juxtaposed with contemporary interventions that accommodate state-of-the-art facilities while honoring the building’s industrial origins.

The interior design fosters a sense of community and collaboration through open layouts, dynamic use of natural light, and thoughtful spatial organization. The project incorporates a variety of programs across its floors, including coworking areas, private offices, and communal lounges. Modern amenities, such as a rooftop lounge, further enhance the architecture, promoting interaction and engagement among its members.

Public-facing spaces like an art gallery, a café, and a 240-seat restaurant are seamlessly integrated with private features such as a speakeasy and performance bar, creating a layered and versatile environment. The rooftop, with panoramic views of downtown, serves as both a retreat and a gathering space, embodying the convergence of professional ambition and relaxed social interaction.

This adaptive reuse project reinvigorates the historic Jewelry District and establishes Green Street as a pivotal site for innovation and culture in the cannabis industry, setting a new benchmark for mixed-use architectural projects.
