The Casa Roll [or Roll House] is inspired by a typical A-Frame structure and the infamous Glass House by Philip Johnson. This Hollywood Hills home combines the two concepts to create a journey through time. The transition from one element to another results in a grand and authentic architectural gesture. Moments of physical, environmental, and atmospheric shifts take place throughout the interior.
The entrance of the house begins with the A-Frame profile and is carried in a linear progression through to the modern glass box. The occupant is moved through various private and public spaces, dipping and climbing through the terraced interior. The journey culminates upon arrival at the floating glass box that cantilevers over the infinity pool. Panoramic views stretch from the mountains to the ocean as the occupant sits within the glass box gazing out into the future.
